If you want to be able to type Japanese on your droid, search the market for a program called Multiling Keyboard. It is the best Kana keyboard I have found as it works just like a Japanese cell phone would. All you do is type in the Hiragana and it shows a list of all the possible Kanji you might be trying to use. Check it out.

It also has a Katakana keyboard, you just press shift to access it, and it has a button for dakuten or small tsu/ya/yu/yo

I was just looking through the market the other day and was bummed that Google IME app only had Korean and Mandarin but no Japanese! So I didn’t know which to choose and gave up (>.<;). But now I don't have to think about it.

Thanks for the tip, Rob! (Can I call you Rob? Too late.)

I tried multi ling but don’t think i like it better than my current app. Found Go keyboard too which i like in theory because it has swipe and easy switch between languages, but I’m so used to my current one that i find this one awkward. I’m typing with it now and it’s taking forever :-P

I’m still waiting for Swiftkey to be updated with Japanese support, I love that keyboard. I don’t really need to type in Japanese from my phone, will come in handy when I live in Japan for a year for university though!
