Ok, I know the Japanese are like 14 hours ahead of us (CST/CDT time) but what I’m wondering is; do the Japanese use a 12 or 24-hour clock cycle?(ie: 1-12 AM/PM or 0-24 hours)

Hmm, interesting… so do they normally go by one or the other? Also, if using 12-hour… how do they tell AM or PM? I’d think they would say something other than AM or PM like we do. Thanks for the response btw.

In general digital clocks will display the time in 24 hours. Analog clocks, of course, use 12. Written, I’ve seen more 24hr that 12hr, speaking, I would say they are used about the same. If AM/PM is implied, as in English, it’s not mentioned. If you said you went to bed at 10:30, you don’t need to say PM. In more ambiguous cases, AM/PM is designated by 午前/午後　(ごぜん/ごご)：
午前３時
午後３時 etc

I can explain the 25 hour thing.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shin_Megami_Tensei:_Persona_3

“Experiments carried out ten years ago created the Dark Hour, a period of time that exists between one day and the next. During this time, most people are transmogrified into coffins and are not aware of the Dark Hour; however, there is a select group of people who are.”

It happens at midnight, then resumes regular time at midnight, after the dark hour.

Obviously, Japan has implemented this into their time system.

Also @Koichi wtf man the fugu just threatened to poke my eyes out. This is really uncool. :(
