I have a small problem, that I know can be resolved, I just need a few recommendations.

In July, I’m going camping for 10 days. Not usually a problem, but here’s the hitch: I can’t bring ANY electronics. So no Textfugu, no Anki, no Tae Kim’s guide… Nothing. However, I can bring standard flashcards and Textbooks, because those pass as non-electronics (duh).

So, are there any recommends for Textbooks and Flashcards? And where might I pick those up? Thanks!

Well, if you have a printer you could just print out enough lessons from Tae Kim and Textfugu to last you ten days. If not, I would go to the library and print them because Japanese textbooks run pretty high and aren’t all that useful aside from providing another perspective on a particular grammar point, and if that’s all you’re going for there are plenty of places you can just download them online if you’re okay with being a criminal. Making your own flashcards with index cards, or something similar, though would be a great idea because it’s like quadruple learning. Of course, all the vocab and grammar you bring along with you.

Perhaps camping themed vocab! Hoho! I am such a genius.

How about picking up copies of The Japan Times’ Dictionary of Basic Japanese Grammar and Dictionary of Intermediate Japanese Grammar (which are indispensable for every learner of Japanese). Then when you have free time look up interesting grammar points and study the numerous example sentences for practice.
