The question quickly: how is 七人 pronounced? I can’t tell from the audio on the anki deck, I have no idea what I’m hearing.

There are some words that you can “contract” by not pronouncing the vowels (e.g. 一 is commonly pronounced EECH instead of EECHEE, and して is said as SHTE [one syllable]).
