I have a problem with the “TextFugu Sentences” deck… In the question box I see only square things (I suppose that’s not how it should be). When I brows the deck it’s like this: http://img641.imageshack.us/img641/8924/anki.jpg (I hope the link works).
I thought it could be the Japanese Support (I already had it installed, but I reinstalled it anyway) but nothing changed.
I don’t have problems with other decks…
Can somebody help me, please?December 3, 2011 at 7:43 am #21858Which OS do you have?
Learning the word strawberry seems rather useless, so I would say just skip it.
December 3, 2011 at 10:01 am #21875Can you link the deck? I’ll try it out and see if I get the same issue.
and eh, strawberry is pretty useful to know I would imagine, being one of the most common fruits and all.
December 3, 2011 at 11:42 am #21896I have Windows.
It’s this deck: http://www.textfugu.com/downloads/anki/sentences/sentences.zip
I have the same problem also with the other sentences decks…December 3, 2011 at 12:01 pm #21897If you are on XP or older you might have to install the Japanese language pack: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/177561
Vista and 7 have this built-in, so if you are on either of those I’m not too sure what it could be. Sometimes I get the squares on Windows 7 and I have to restart my computer to fix it, it doesn’t happen in Anki but any Japanese files or folders I have written in kana/kanji all get changed to squares, very rarely happens but still a bit of an annoyance.
If none of that helps then I’d double check the Anki plugin is installed properly by manually going into the folder, this is how mine looks: http://i.imgur.com/YUqrG.jpg
December 4, 2011 at 2:59 am #21939Thank you for the informations… I have XP, but I also have the Japanese language pack. Actually I have the language for non-Unicode programs set to Japanese (because of some programs that would display some gibberish text). In despair I tried to change it back to Italian, but this time the squares looked more rectangular and more black.
The plugins folder looks the same.
I was wondering… how should that deck look?
EDIT: I got it to work!!!!!! I opened the card template and found that in the “expression” field the font was set to Helvetica instead of Arial, I changed it back and now I can see the hiragana!!!
