Memories, oh memories :). MGS 1 is a true masterpiece. Snake was bad ass in that game. Sad he ended up the way he did in MGS 4 :(May 10, 2012 at 6:54 pm #30552@missingno15 – I’ve been thinking about what you said regarding getting a PSP. I think it would be fun to get a Japanese PSP while I’m there, but I’m nervous that it might be a bad idea. Do you have any thoughts or experience regarding that?
May 10, 2012 at 11:41 pm #30556Get a Playstation Vita instead of a PSP. It’s newer and has more features. Aside from maybe warranty issues (you might still be covered if you bought/import one from Japan in your own country), I don’t see what other problems you’d run into. The Vita has multi languages, so switching between English and Japanese should be as easy as it is on the PS3. The games are region free. The only downside is if you have multiple PSN accounts, you really need to have seperate memory cards for each account. This saves having to do a factory reset every time to switch account.
May 11, 2012 at 2:44 am #30558@hey I have a Japanese PSP, its a first gen one and you can change it into English if required the charger takes 110V or 220V and came with adapters, not sure if they changed what came with the PSP after the first gen though.
May 11, 2012 at 4:27 am #30561Yeah, to be honest, I just bought a used PSP just to play those two games hahaha. Now I can say that I bought a game console just for two games. Btw, I bought the PSP and 2 games last year.
But could you clear things up a little by telling us why it might be a bad idea? Let us know what you are thinking.
May 11, 2012 at 5:52 am #30563@kanjiman8 & @andrew – Good stuff to know! Thanks. I haven’t followed the PSP in the past, so I didn’t even know there was a Vita.
@missingno15 – haha, fair enough, sounds like they are killer apps then. :) My concern is I don’t know what sort of gotchas might be out there. I know there is a chance it might not work with the US online store, and I can make a choice of whether it’s worth the risk or not to me, so known unknowns I can factor into my choice. The unknown unknowns are what have me concerned. I’d hate to get it, and then later find that it doesn’t support or do something that I assumed was so basic that I never bothered to ask if it could do it or not. Does that make sense?
