I’ve just started learning Japanese in the last week and thoroughly enjoying it. So far I’ve learned Hiragana, and just started Season 2 here on TextFugu.

I started learning for a couple of reasons. Firstly, I’ve always just been interested in learning languages, and Japanese has been high on the list for a while.

Secondly, there are a lot of things that you can only read/watch if you can speak Japanese (particularly manga, but also other popular media), so it would be really useful for that.
