Hello everyone. My name is Michael Lowrey and I am from Birmingham Alabama. I want to learn Japanese so that I might be able to visit in my final year of pharmacy school. After pharmacy school I would like to be able to spend a few years there, but only time will tell. When i first started learning I was definately thinking on a much simpler level but once i realized that i love learning Japanese i figured i should put it to good use. I have been using the Genki 2nd edition text but much of the information fails to make it into my long term memory so i am hoping using textfugu, and maybe some help from you all, I can fill in the massive gaps.
I look forward to meeting you all.

A friend of mine is going to minor in Japanese when they go off to college and somehow we got on the subject of using the apple app store to find learning tools. I took it upon myself to look and i just ended up using them. Originally i thought i would learn so that i would not need subtitles, i cant use them anyway. After a few months of barely scratching the surface, it took months to learn hiragana, i realized i needed a better reason, which i promptly found and have been better off for it.
June 29, 2012 at 3:55 pm #32474Welcome Michael! I am also incorporating the Genki textbook (1st edition though) into my studies, and I agree that it can be a bit hard to remember (especially compared to TextFugu). Best of luck with your goals!
