Hey all!
I’m completely new to Japanese, and very enthusiastic to start learning! I’m from NZ (New Zealand), and have been very interested in Japanese culture and media for a while now. I also have a few friends who have been learning Japanese for a few years. I’ll be starting Uni next year, and figured now is as good a time as any to get started! I hope to be able to spend some time in Japan in the future, firstly for an OE (overseas experience), and potentially more.
I’ll probably take a few Japanese papers next year, as well as doing some self study (starting now). TextFugu is highly recommended across the internet, so this is where I’ve ended up. I’m sure I’ll be fairly active on the forums with questions – any learning hints and tips for a newbie will be very welcome (from learning techniques to useful websites).
I guess I’ll see you all around ^_^

December 9, 2013 at 10:03 am #42711Welcome and have fun and knowledge here :)
December 11, 2013 at 8:43 pm #42754Thanks again Aikibujin! I suspect I’ll be returning to that post regularly from now onwards. I wasn’t aware of Rikaisama (only Rikaichan)…the speech function is very useful for demonstrating Koichi’s examples (eg long vowels, which is where I am at the moment).
Thanks roh! I’m looking forward to learning and interacting with the community ^_^.
