So it’s almost been a month now that I’ve been on Textfugu but it already feels like a lot longer than that. I’ve had up’s, down’s, been through the dip, climbed the dip, fallen back into the dip, crossed off days in the dip, got touched up by burly men in the dip, hid in the dip, climbed the dip again rinse, repeat and etc … Recently it seems I’m going backwards more than I’m going forwards, catching up on vocab, re reading the posts about making time to study or the aforementioned dip to help me pull through.
Don’t get me wrong, Textfugu is awesome, and I’m still having a lot of fun but recently I’m more often disheartened by the fact that I’m literally dragging myself through.

So how do you guys do it?

(also, JFDI, yeah i know i know)

I write down when I want to be done with something, and which days I should spend studying, and which ones where I should just be going through anki. It is getting though due to college homework, but it is going fine this far.

One of my big motivators are blogs from people who live in Japan. It makes me want to study, and I can see what I will achive by studying :)
The other day I watched an episode of a series called clannad, where I all of a sudden understood parts of the conversation. When I can see things that aren’t from textfugu, and I can understand them, then I feel that I have achived something, and that is my biggest motivator :)

As far as I remember, this was what happened:
One person was telling another person that drawing the charater:人 would make you have luck, but he was drawing the charater:　入
So basic, but still I could understand the kanji ;D

Anything Japan related = motivation for me :)
Some blogs I enjoy:
Danny choo
GetToJapan
WhatJapanThinks
Gakuranman
Japan times (news)

I’m the same way, I know I need to set up a schedule or something. Basically I study randomly and sporadically. I don’t recommend it! At least I have a few apps on my android phone (anki, obenkyou etc..) so when i get bored sometimes i’ll whip out my phone and study a bit

Pay attention to how you are feeling when studying. Do you feel like a f**king rock star? Awesome. Do you feel frustrated, stupid, or bored? Try a different approach.

Well the blogs thing is a good idea, to be honest I’m completely new to the blogging scene which is why I suppose I haven’t had a look yet, but I will.

@jkl, ya know, now that you mention it, I did feel like a f**king rock star, before this sink hole like week… that’s pretty cool.

@zeldaskitten, I have a schedule, sorta, it’s just a crammed and rushed one. A couple of hours every morning between dropping my wife off at work and going to work myself. Thing is that’s all the time I ever have to myself so it’s all a bit mashed together.
