I am working on a Japanese Mythology sleeve tattoo and I am looking for some help with my kanji. I realize it’s a general rule of thumb to NOT get foreign languages (or any text for that matter) tattooed bcause it’s easy to mess up. But I am on this website so that shows I am working on my Japanese! Anyway, I wanted to check and make sure the kanji I have makes sense/is the right kanji for my tattoo. The tattoo is a thunderstorm scene with Fujin and Raijin and I wanted to put a scroll much like this style (http://i.imgur.com/1HW23.jpg) with the kanji for ‘chaos.’ Is 混沌 (konton) the correct kanji for that? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
Looking it up in J-J dictionaries, it seems like the meaning of the word is of things not being in order and unable to tell apart, which is indeed chaos. But it can also be used when something is not understood/known, for example the universe.

That said apparently it is used in the Japanese version of Dark souls as a translation for daughter of chaos, so it might be safe to use this word for you.

The thing is, aside from getting the kanji right in the first place, who’s actually going to draw the thing?
well the artist would draw it… why does that matter?
Well, what style is he going to write it in? Plain old MS Mincho? If he’s going to stylise it on the run, are you going to make sure it doesn’t get changed in the process? If you leave off the radical for the first character, for example, you wind up with 昆, which has the same reading, but means something quite different.
oh yeah, good point. i will have to look at different fonts to find one that looks right. it will be on a scroll so i would want it to look hand drawn with the handwritten style rather than a computer printed-out style.
