Since many of the words in Japanese are not necessarily similar with any Romance language equivalents, it can be a pain to remember some of them . There are some words that I just can’t seem to learn unless I have a silly story as its background .
I’m going to start with my own story about the word ぐうぜん . You guys can come here and add your own word stories and maybe the best ones will make it into textfugu one day .
I might pop in and post more than one here if I remember .
ぐうぜん- accident

Way of remembering it : A goose’s end was trapped in a aeroplane motor causing it to fall (accidentally) = accident
Goose’s end – >ぐうぜんYou can put requests for words you can’t think stories for here too and maybe someone will help you .

Any mnemonics ?
Hey! Lip them? Lip them? What?November 9, 2012 at 3:49 pm #37172Hmm… have you ever heard a person with a Spanish accent pronounce “you” as “ju” or something similar sounding? Well think of it as “can (かん) ju (じゅ) do” (the due comes form the する) <insert activity>. Say “can ju do” 50 push ups If I practice my push ups I can! Does that help? :)
November 9, 2012 at 6:50 pm #37173actually 練習する is れんしゅう so try not to remember it as かんしゅう ;)
