Ooo. I hiked up Mount Fuji, but only managed to get to about 3000 metres altitude…

果物の中 would be “from among all fruits”. It’s ひとつ rather than 一個 because you’re talking about a type of fruit rather than the actual fruit itself.

    I keep a travel blog when I travel. That’s basically it…

http://japan.jrudd.org/ is the one from Japan.

Mishima? Wasn’t there someone else on this forum who was going to Mishima as well? Can’t seem to find it now, though…

What are you intending to do there? =)

*Sigh* And now I’m editing the post because I’ve also now noticed that when I type in 八 in the reply box it doesn’t show the lid, but when I submit it, it does.

It’s fonts. Some fonts have the lid, some don’t. Same with 入 – some fonts have a little hook on the top, while others don’t.

Essentially “volcano” tends to appear on the top of kanji, like in 分 or 公, while “fish legs” tends to appear on the bottom, like in 六 or 共. That said, neither imiwa nor denshi jisho differentiate between them at all (and I suspect that may well be true for other dictionaries too).

“Toe” and “dough” aren’t very good approximations for the sounds of と and ど, and you, Aikibujin, should know better than to say that ドゥ sounds like “dew”. Are you sure you come from Australia? =P

I finished my degree last semester, so exchange programs aren’t really open to me any more. Still pondering JET or something like it, though.

An iPad is a tablet. Could you be more specific?

Welcome! Congrats on the immersion program. I’d been wanting to do some sort of exchange myself, but I’d always either not have the money, or not have the time.

Nothing wrong with “mostly just travel photos”. I like travel photos. =)

If you disabled it, you’d never be able to type in kanji. You’re just going to have to get used to typing a slightly different way.

Japanese doesn’t really use spaces, anyway.

    Yeah, “hiragana keyboard” != IME.

Also, I would not describe Tamworth and Dubbo as being close enough to use “Tamworth/Dubbo”. Sydney is almost closer to Tamworth than Dubbo is. =P

    Welcome! Where in Australia? =)

    Also, “hiragana keyboard”?

    Also, practice practice listening.

I did JLPT N5 three years ago, though I was also studying at uni, so I couldn’t say really how much TextFugu covered…

Oldish one called てっぱん. It’s stalled at the moment, though, because my computer is unwell…
