Meaning: Make
Two leaders… times three. That makes six leader.
If you combined these six people, what do you think they’d be able to MAKE by working together?
Imagine them working on something fantastic. Something you can barely imagine. They work in pairs, but there are three pairs, all working on different things. Then, they put their parts together, and come up with the most amazing thing you can imagine being built.
Reading: さく
You’re so impressed. But, the impressedness doesn’t last long. Someone walks up next to you and looks at the most beautiful thing you’ve ever seen and says.
Wow, that SUCKS (さく). How could he say that? You make him SUCK on your shoe by kicking him in the face.
Be sure to feel both the rage and surprise at this dumb kid’s comment to help you to remember. How could he say it “SUCKS“!? What’s wrong with him?
Vocabulary
We didn’t cover さ with the mnemonic, I’m afraid it’s something you’ll have to remember on your own. Luckily it’s part of さく (i.e. the さ of さく) so it’s not like it’s much different. Most of these are さく below, anyways, so you’ll only have to remember one word that’s different.
a 作る(つくる)= To Make
- Meaning: Same as the kanji, but verb form.
- Reading: You make something really cool… but that bully took (つく) it away from you, so now you’re sad. :(
a 作文(さくぶん)= Composition
- Combo: 作 (make) + 文 (writing)
- Meaning: When you make writing, you create a composition
- Reading: On’yomi readings of the kanji
a 作り方(つくりかた)= How To Make
- Combo: 作 (make) + 方 (way)

a 作用(さよう)= Action
- Combo: 作 (make) + 用 (task)
- Meaning: When you make a task, you’re causing someone to do an action
- Reading: The on’yomi readings (this one uses the さ one I mentioned earlier).
a 工作(こうさく)= Engineering
- Combo: 工 (construction) + 作 (make)
- Meaning: When you make construction-ish things, you’re in some kind of engineering (because you’re not putting together made things, you’re making the things that people put together).

- Meaning: The “big make” is your biggest creation. That’s your masterpiece!

- Reading: These are the kun’yomi readings. Remember how body parts tend to make things kun’yomi? That’s what’s happening here, too.
