Pressure

on’yomi kun’yomi Radicals
あつ n/i +

Meaning: Pressure

The graves inside the cliff are so numerous… they’re bulging outwards, and creating a huge amount of pressure on it.

The cliff itself in your mind should be bulging out… just about to burst. The pressure increases and increases until it can’t take it anymore and then BOOM, explodes with bones and coffins everywhere.

Reading: あつ

Do you know the word あつい (which means “hot”)? In theory you should from the Japanese adjectives you’ve learned up to this point in the regular lessons.

What happens when there’s a ton of pressure on something, though? It obviously gets really, really あつい (あつ).

This mnemonic is a bit of a stretch, so do a little bit of “normal” remembering for this one, if you don’t mind.
