A disgusting pile of mullets. But, you’re intrigued, so you pick up a mullet and try it on. Unfortunately, it’s way too wide for your head.
When you put on the mullet, imagine it being super flappy on the sides because it’s way too big. It’s like there’s wings on the sides, though from back to front it fits well. It’s really just too wide.

When we need to remember こう we use the person/name こういち. – The mullet’s too wide for you, but then someone else tries a mullet on, and it fits perfectly. That other person is こういち.
