Have
| on’yomi | kun’yomi | Radicals |

| ゆう | あ.る | ナ + 月 |
Meaning: Have
A narwhal and a moon. Two great, majestic things. You really want to have both of them, more than anything.
Imagine yourself imagining yourself holding both, one in each arm, so happy because you have what you want. What a lucky kid you are, getting everything!
Reading: ゆう
Who wants these things? Duh, that’s You (ゆう).
Who else could it be that’d want something so strange as this combination?
Vocabulary
When it comes to the kun’yomi version of the kanji 有 it’s almost always written in kana, not kanji. In the on’yomi version, though, it will be written in kanji. I put some notes below so you know when it’s usually written in kana alone.
a 有る(ある)= To Have, To Exist
- Meaning: Verb form of the kanji. Usually this is written in kana only (ある)
- Reading: Almost always going to be written in kana, though you’ll see it very occasionally in kanji. I wouldn’t worry about this one too much. The meaning for this one is important, but the reading not as much.
a 有名(ゆうめい)= Famous
- Combo: 有 (have) + 名 (name/fame)
- Meaning: If you have name, you have fame.
- Reading: The on’yomi readings of the kanji.
