Fire

on’yomi kun’yomi Radicals

Meaning: Fire

The fire and the fire kanji are the same as each other.

If you know the radicals then this one is EZPZ.

Reading: か

Whenever we need to remember か, we use the word car, so for this kanji, when we think fire, we ought to think of something on fire. What is it on fire? It’s obviously your very own car (か)!

Oh no… Oh no!! If you don’t have a car, imagine what it’d feel like if your car just exploded and burned down. If you do have a car, imagine your own car in this situation. It should be a terrible feeling, if you imagine it well enough. So, when you think fire, remember the fear you had when your car was given to the flames. Now you have to walk everywhere, sad :(

Vocabulary

Learn the vocabulary meaning’s before moving on (and try to learn the readings as well, but don’t spend forever on it, or anything).

a 火(ひ)= Fire, Flame

  • Meaning: This is the same as the kanji’s meaning.
  • Reading: This is the same as the kun’yomi reading (because it’s a vocab that’s a single kanji, and all alone, and not a number, etc). The ひ is just short for “heat.”

a 火山(かざん)= Volcano

  • Combo: 火 (fire) + 山 (mountain)
  • Meaning: A fire mountain is no normal mountain. It’s a volcano.
  • Reading: Make sure you know the on’yomi readings for both these kanji and you’ll know the reading for this word as well.
