Master

Meaning: Master

This is no ordinary king. He also happens to be a master at balancing a drop of water on his head without it soaking in or beading off. He’s the master of water drops… the water king!

You’ll have to imagine a King dressed like a master (master may mean different things depending on who you are… I tend to imagine someone who’s like an old Buddhist monk, but that’s just me). He’s balancing a single drop of water on top of his head, and it isn’t breaking (think sphere). He is totally the master… even better than a king.

Reading: しゅ

Then, the most amazing thing happens. The master takes off a shoe (しゅ) and places it gently on top of the water drop, where it balances on top, not breaking the water.

Seriously, this ought to not be allowed, at least when it comes to the physics we know and love on this earth. This is so amazing, so feel amazed by it in your imagination as well. Also, it might help if his shoe is something ridiculous… like a clown shoe, or something. You chose!

Vocabulary

You don’t have any vocab to learn with this kanji just yet… but just you wait. Someday you will, and that day could be pretty soon if you’re not careful.
