Good Luck

Meaning: Good Luck
There’s a samurai there. He takes his mouth off and gives it to you, putting it on your forehead. “What are you doing?” you ask. “I’m giving you my good luck,” he replies with the mouth on your forehead.
Sure enough, as soon as he gives you the mouth, a horse runs him over and he dies, but it narrowly misses you. You win the lottery (“thank you,” you say with your forehead mouth), you meet a lucky lady/guy, and everything is amazing for you. The mouth is really giving you good luck. Feel thankful about it to be more likely to remember this kanji’s meaning.

No important on’yomi – so let’s take a look at the kun’yomi.
Vocabulary
Two very lucky words for a very lucky [wlm_firstname].
a 吉(きち)= Good Luck (mainly used with fortune telling)
- Meaning: Same as the kanji, though you’ll need to remember it has more to do with fortune telling.
- Reading: Where do you have good luck? Think about it… then think about how the kitchen (きち) is where you have the best luck. It’s where you won the lottery and many other things (think them up, whatever you think is good luck).
a 吉日(きちじつ)= Lucky Day
- Combo: 吉 (good luck) + 日 (day)
- Meaning: A good luck day is a lucky day
- Reading: The kun’yomi reading of 吉 and an exception reading for 日. You’ll just have to learn this straight up or via your study cards.
