Meaning: Cause
You have something really big in your mouth. Of course, you go to the dentist to figure out what it is. The dentist reaches in, and pulls out the 大 radical. “Yep,” he says. “This is the cause of your discomfort and pain.”
Make sure to go to the dentist with a lot of pain in your mouth. Yow can feel something big in there, but you don’t know the cause yet. It’s terrible, whatever it is.
Reading: いん
When we need to remember いん we use the word “innocent” – As soon as the dentist pulls the big thing out of your mouth, you start wondering who put this in there (probably while you were asleep). Think through your family… was it your mother who did this? No, she was away that night… she’s innocent. She’s a nice lady after all.
Think of the other people who are innocent. Think about their alibis, or just their personality (they wouldn’t do this to you, right?). When you’ve thought through a bunch of innocent people, you hopefully will remember the on’yomi, いん, too!
