Many

on’yomi kun’yomi Radicals
おお.い +

Meaning: Many

How many evenings are there? There are many.

If you accidentally think “a lot” or something similar, that’s okay too. It’s the basic meaning that counts, and all these things are pretty close, though eventually you want to get to the point where you know that this kanji does in fact mean many.

Reading: た

When we need to remember the reading た, let’s think tacos (mmm).

You have many of something. What is that something? It happens to be tacos (た).

Imagine many tacos falling on you from the sky. It’s raining tacos… and not just a few, but many! Feel them hitting you, bursting open, covering you in sauces and oils. Taste them, feel them, get hurt by them. Tacos are good… but not this many.
