When we use けん you should think “Ken Doll.”
What do you see? Imagine yourself opening your eyes, slowly, seeing for the first time. In front of you is a giant KEN doll, who did the operation on you to make it so you can SEE. You were blind before, so you never knew what people looked like. You now know that everyone is just barbies and KEN dolls, not at all like you imagined.

- Meaning: The potential form. You can see something (or something is visible)
- Reading: If you know the reading of 見る you can figure this one out too.
a 見せる（みせる）＝ To Show
- Meaning: Now you’re “doing seeing” to someone else… i.e. you’re showing them something.
- Reading: Make sure you know the previous two words to know this one.
a 見付ける（みつける）＝ To Find
- Combo: 見 (see) + 付ける (attach)
- Meaning: You attach your seeing onto something (and find it)
- Reading: The kun’yomi readings of both. You can tell because of the hiragana sticking out there.
a 見付かる（みつかる）＝ To be Found
- Combo: 見 (see) + 付かる (be attached to)
- Meaning: Someone attaches their seeing onto something (and finds it)
- Reading: Same like the previous word.
a 花見（はなみ）＝ Viewing Cherry Blossoms
- Combo: 花 (flower) + 見 (to see)
- Meaning: When you see the flowers, it’s because you’re going out to view cherry blossoms, which is a thing you do every year in Japan. Kind of a big deal.
- Reading: If you know the kun’yomis of both kanji, you know the reading of this word.
a 見分ける（みわける）＝ To Tell Apart
- Combo: 見 (see) + 分ける (be understood, be separated)
- Meaning: When you see and understand separated things… you are telling them apart!
