Relationship

on’yomi kun’yomi Radicals
ちゅう なか +

Meaning: Relationship

The leader in the middle is the most important person. He/She is the one with all the relationships.

Imagine the leader actually in the center of a circle of people, trying to get to know the leader. The leader has to take one at a time, spinning around and around to meet everyone. Also, farther out, the leader has relationships and connections spanning out like a spider web. Relationships make a leader.

Reading: ちゅう

This kanji is so similar to 中, and has the same on’yomi reading. Both are ちゅう, so if you remember 中’s reading, you remember 仲’s reading too. The kun’yomi reading is even the same as well!

Make sure you know your other kanji, sometimes they come back to help!

Vocabulary

As mentioned before, the kun’yomi is also the same as 中. Aren’t you lucky?

a 仲(なか)= Relationship

  • Meaning: Same as the kanji.
  • Reading: The kun’yomi reading is the same as 中, so if you know your previous kanji, you know this one as well.

a 仲がいい(なかがいい)= Relationship Is Good

  • Combo: 仲 (relationship) が (is) いい (good)
  • Meaning: This is used to describe someone who you are friendly with (i.e. someone who you have a good relationship with!)
  • Reading: Kun’yomi readings – this is actually more of a phrase, but it’s used so much that it’s like a word. Makes a lot of sense as long as you know all the parts.
