Meaning: Fortune Telling
Someone has a toe sticking out of their mouth. Who would have such a thing? Turns out you’re getting your fortune done, and in order to do it, the fortune teller must suck a toe and then examine it afterwards.
Reading: n/i
The reading is the on’yomi reading, and it’s not important enough to learn. All you need to learn is the kun’yomi reading, which you’ll be doing right . . . now!

a 占い(うらな.い)= Fortune Telling
- Meaning: The meaning is the same as the kanji.
- Reading: The reading is the kun’yomi reading. You have to remember the うらな part. Perhaps you get your fortune told, and the fortune is that you’ll die with your face in a urinal (うらな).
占う(うらなう)= To Tell Someone’s Fortune
- Meaning: This is the verb form of the kanji’s meaning.
- Reading: If you know 占い’s reading, you will also be able to remember this one.
