The Narwal’s are in the mouth where there’s ice. How cryptic!
You want to find the narwhals, that’s for sure (narwhals are great!). They are somewhere where there is ice, so maybe somewhere in the arctic. What you are looking at is a DIAGRAM which will guide you there.
Imagine looking at a diagram or map – and it has pictures of narwhals in an area where ice is. This is where you will find the mystical narwhal. This DIAGRAM will show the way.
Reading: ず
What will you do when you find these narwhals?
Well, what else would you do. Kill them? No way, that’s horrible. You’re going to do something almost as bad, and capture them to put them in your ZOO (ず).
Imagine dragging a narwhal back with you to the town or city you live in, then throwing them in a zoo to be kept. People are quite amazed by this mystical creature you’ve found, though, which is pretty cool.
Vocabulary
The kun’yomi isn’t all that important, but these vocab words are! Learn their meanings (at the very least) before moving on, though learning the readings will be good too.
a 図(ず)= Diagram
- Meaning: The same as the kanji.
- Reading: Also the same as the kanji.
a 地図(ちず)= Map
- Combo: 地 (ground) + 図 (diagram)
- Meaning: A diagram of the ground is a map (the most important parts of most maps tend to be the ground, I think, and this kanji agrees).
- Reading: The on’yomi readings of the kanji.
