Location

on’yomi kun’yomi Radicals
じょう +

Meaning: Location

There is a great gravity at this grave. It pulls us in towards it… It obviously wants us to go to a specific location (aka the location where it is).

This is a really, really general kanji meaning which makes it harder to remember via a mnemonic. Spend a few extra seconds trying to sort this one out in your head before moving on.

Reading: じょう

The location you’re being pulled towards is the secret sheep graveyard. You can hear the “Baa (ば) baa baaaaaa!” noises more clearly the closer you get. It’s scary!

The reading for this kanji is actually quite difficult to pinpoint. It uses both on’yomi and kun’yomi readings quite often, and there’s no real good rules to figure out when to do which. The kun’yomi reading seems slightly more common, though, which is why we’re going with that one. You will, however, have to work a little bit when you get to this kanji’s vocab. Just a warning!
