on’yomi kun’yomi Radicals
こう す.き +

Meaning: Like

Women? Children? Those are the two greatest things going for the earth, because women have children, and keep us going. There’s nothing not to like about either of these kinds of people!

Think of each on in turn. Ask… do I like children? Yes. Good. Do I like women? Yes. Good.

Reading: こう

But, who do you like above all women and children? Obviously that person is こういち, he’s awesome.

Herpderpderp. Just kidding. But I hope you like something!

Vocabulary

Two words you know already – you just didn’t know the kanji for them. Thank goodness you do know them, now.

a 好き(すき)= Like

  • Meaning: Same as the kanji
  • Reading: Kun’yomi reading… but you already know it from the lessons, how lucky!

a 大好き(だいすき)= Really Like

  • Combo: 大 (big) + 好き (like)
  • Meaning: A big like is something you really like. Perhaps even love.
  • Reading: Another reading you should already know from the lessons. But, just in case, it’s the on’yomi for 大 and the kun’yomi for 好き (you can tell because there’s some hiragana sticking out).
