Hundred

on’yomi kun’yomi Radicals
ひゃく n/i +

Meaning: Hundred

First, you gotta ask “why is this leaf growing out of the sun? The only possibility is if the sun cools down dramatically (that’s bad for us), so imagine that happening. The sun has gotten down to a very low hundred degrees, cold enough for trees to grow on it.

Feel free to walk around the sun, if you want. Check out its forests and leaves and trees. Pretty neat. Pull out a temperature gage while you’re there. It says one hundred degrees exactly.

Reading: ひゃく

You come across a computer terminal as you’re walking around the one hundred degree sun. You see on the screen a message asking “Would you like to hack (ひゃく) the sun into being warm again?” You hit the yes button, and a bunch of numbers fly across, processing something. Suddenly, the sun gets hotter and hotter, and you have to escape.

Think to yourself over and over as you run away “why did I try to hack the sun!!??” Feel the heat get overwhelming. Run faster, you have to escape! You get on your spaceship and blast off. You do another temperature reading of the sun, it’s shot up to 100 thousand degrees!

Notes

Of course, you can do all kinds of numbers now. 三百, 九百, 四百万, etc. But, keep in mind, most numbers are just written in the regular western style. 300, 900, 4,000,000, etc.
