Meaning: Go
The go radical and go kanji are the same in looks as well as meaning.
“Go” study your radicals if you didn’t know the “Go” radical, okay?
Reading: こう
Knowing the kanji’s meaning, you know you have to go somewhere. So, where will you go? You will go to こういち’s house.
Come up with a good story that involves you going to こういち’s house. Perhaps something crazy, weird, or interesting happens when you get there.
Vocabulary
This is a super common kanji… it is “go” after all. Take a look at the kanji vocab – learn the meanings of the green vocab and fit together the red ones (without learning their meanings, just to get practice).
a 行く(いく)= To go
- Meaning: The same as the kanji, verb form. A really good word to know.
- Reading: Kun’yomi reading. You have to remember the い part. We use “innocent” as the word to remember い, so think about how you are going to the trial to see if you’re innocent, and if you’re not, you will go to jail.
a 行う(おこなう)= Carry out a task
- Meaning: This is a bit of an exception word that you need to learn straight up, though I suppose you can think of carrying out a task as having to go somewhere too (like carry something somewhere for someone).
- Reading: Exceptional reading – Give it a little shot now and then move on without spending much time on it. Let the study cards do the rest.
a 行き(ゆき)= Direction a train/bus is heading
- Meaning: Good to know if you like riding trains or buses. Also an exceptional reading. Added on to the end of a place to show which direction something will be going.
- Reading: Exceptional reading as well. I’d give it your best for a second or two, then move on (and use the flashcards to learn it better later on).
