1-2 Stroke Kanji, Set 2

“Some people are so afraid to die that they never begin to live.” – Henry Van Dyke

At this point let’s take a look at kanji again. You’ve finished the first four, and it’s time to take a look at the second four. Just head on over to the 1-2 Stroke Kanji page, and start up where you left off (which, in theory, is 人).

The kanji you’ll be learning are:

Kanji Meaning 音 (on) 訓 (kun)
person じん, にん ひと
enter にゅう い.れる, はい.る
eight はち や, や.つ
power りょく, りき ちから

When you’ve gone through these kanji, there are a couple of decks for you to download and import so you can study these further.

*Notice that they’re called 2.1 now? That’s because you’re on 2-stroke kanji (the previous deck was a mix of 1 and 2, so we called it 1.1). Don’t let the numbers confuse you!

Kanji 2.1

You’ll want to upload Kanji 2.1 into your “Kanji” deck on Anki. This is the one that just does the kanji and the meaning / reading.

Kanji Vocab 2.1

These are your kanji vocab (vocab that comes from the above kanji as well as kanji you know already from previous chapters). You’ll want to import the Kanji Vocab 2-1 deck into your “TextFugu Vocab” deck.

Study both of these until Anki tells you to stop (also make sure you’re reviewing, because reviewing is so key!). When you’ve gotten this all done, move on to the next page!

What you’ve accomplished… You learned four kanji, their meaning, and their on’yomi reading. That’s actually quite a bit, to be honest. You’re building a great kanji foundation for learning more kanji (and for learning them even more quickly, later on). You’re also about two thirds of the way through all the 1-2 stroke kanji, and that’s nothing to scoff at.
