To REALLY Hate

I’m guessing you already know how to say “to really hate” (if you don’t know, think about it, and think about how we turned すき into だいすき). Figuring out patterns like this will help you to understand more Japanese (without actually knowing anything). These patterns will seem really useless at first, but the more little tidbits of knowledge you build up, the more you’ll notice that you know things you didn’t actually learn. It’s kind of cool, but will take a little while to get there. Enjoy the little victories, for now.
To Hate
a嫌い（きらい）
To Really Hate
a大嫌い（だいきらい）
Just like with すき, all we had to do is add a 大 (だい) to it, to make it into a “big” hate (still remember how 大 means big / large?). Essentially, you’re saying you’re “big hating” on something, which I think is pretty awesome. “To Hate” on its own is a pretty strong word. “To BIG Hate” is even stronger. If you use this word, make sure you really hate something a lot, and make a face while you say it. Lifting up one side of your mouth is a good way to do this. Gotta look angry, you know?
