Keeping Up With Everything

“A hero is an ordinary individual who finds the strength to persevere and endure in spite of overwhelming obstacles.” - Christopher Reeve

At this point in the game, I feel like it’s a good time to (quickly) talk about feeling overwhelmed.

  • TextFugu’s starting to pick up the pace (because you’re getting better at learning, which takes some learning)
  • You probably have more vocab lists to study
  • You are about to get even more vocab lists to study
  • There’s starting to be a lot of things you need to remember

With self learners, I think, feeling overwhelmed can be dangerous, whether you’re a hard worker or not. It’s sort of like when you have a to-do list, but then you keep adding more and more things to it, and eventually it just becomes so full and bloated that it isn’t useful anymore to you. Suddenly this to-do list (which was supposed to help you to stay on task and get things done) has become useless, and you have to start over. I don’t want this to happen to you and your Japanese studies. Learning Japanese is a combination of studying consistently over time (while studying enough so that your “list of to-dos” doesn’t get too long).

This chapter is all about helping you do that.
