つもり

“A good traveler has no fixed plans, and is not intent on arriving.” – Lao Tzu

There are two kinds of つもり’s.

• Plan つもり
• Conviction つもり

The “plan” つもり is the most common, and the one we’re going to focus on at first. We’ll go over the “conviction” つもり a little bit later on, and then wrap back around to include つもり with past grammar points so we can practice everything new and old at the same time.

For now, though, all you need to know is that つもり = plan/conviction. In fact, if you just focus on memorizing the word つもり, that would be swell. It’ll be important to know over the next few pages, you know?
