Adjectives + Verbs = Adverbs

“A journey of a thousand miles begins with one step.” - Confucius

There’s a couple of things I want you to do while you go through this chapter.

  1. Learn how to use adverbs
  2. Start transitioning into “vocab mode.”

The first one (adverbs) goes without saying. This chapter is all about adverbs. The second one (vocab mode) is going to start the transition between Season 4 and Season 5.

Now, it may seem like you’ve learned a lot of vocab this season (and you definitely have, with the 3 and 4 stroke kanji, as well as adjectives and verbs), but Season 5 is where you’ll really kick things off. You’ve spent four seasons developing your foundation. You’ve learned how to use nouns, adjectives, and verbs. You’ve also learned some kanji, and are probably getting pretty good at learning it.

Season 1 through 4 were all about foundation. Season 5 and beyond are all about building off that foundation. Instead of learning big, overarching concepts like “nouns” or “verbs,” you’re going to be taking those things and learning new grammar points that use those things. Basically, you’re taking the leap from beginner to intermediate (or something like that), and vocab is going to become a lot more important.

Over the next few lessons, I’m going to help you with that transition so that you’re ready to go. So, part of this chapter is going to be about adverbs, and the other part is going to be about your vocab and review habits. Let’s jump right in.
