The な Adjective Vocab
“I have known a great many troubles, but most of them never happened.” - Mark Twain
Happy for you, the な adjective vocab list isn’t as long as the い adjective list, coming up. I’d recommend learning this list pretty well before moving on to the い adjective chapter, since it’ll help you focus when い adjectives roll around. Take a look at this list and download the Anki deck. Use the cramming technique you learned in the previous chapter to get started!
This is the list of な adjectives you will be learning for this chapter. More exist, sure, but these are some of the good ones. When you learn these words, all you need to know for now is that the な part at the end is optional (actually, it just depends on how you use it). Mainly, I want to make sure when you learn these words you know that the actual word is separate from the な. Don’t learn the word with the な being part of the word. Know that it’s there, but also know that it’s separate (think of the な part like a particle). In the list below, I’ve provided the kanji as well as the “な version” of these words. In the Anki deck, you’ll be learning these words without the な as well as in hiragana.

な Adjectives Deck on Anki
Do what you can to learn about half of the words above. You don’t have to know the kanji (in fact, please don’t worry about the kanji right now), just the kana and meaning. When you’ve sort-of learned about half of these, study your Anki deck & reviews then move on. We’ll be using these words in the following pages!
To help you, I’ve also put together a vocab list you can download / print. As always, try to use it as little as possible and just learn the words.
Now let’s go figure out how and when な adjectives are used!
