Negative & Past Negative Casual Verbs
“At the timberline where the storms strike with the most fury, the sturdiest trees are found.” – Hudson
You’ve learned about dictionary form verbs in both past and present tenses, making you into half of a casual Japanese verbs master. Now it’s time to round out your knowledge and learn both negative and past negative casual verb forms.
“Both!?” you say. Of course! Now that you know the first two, you only have to learn a teensy tiny little extra thing to know negative and past negative. Pyramid scheme of learning going on here.
In this chapter, you’ll go over negative form first, then move on to past negative (which will be soo easy). Then, we’ll look at past grammar points that could possibly use the new stuff you just learned, meaning you get to both review old things and learn how to use them in a new way, as well practice what you just learned.
Shall we get started?
