The Talk

“Frozen in fear, you avoid responsibility because you think your experience is beyond your control. This stance keeps you from making decisions, solving problems, or going after what you want in life.” – David Emerald

There was a specific talk that inspired this section. It’s a talk by Joshua Foer, who spent a lot of time studying the differences between experts and people who are just “OK.”

I would recommend watching the talk, it’s really good. I’ll also be going over the big points in the speech, too, and tying them into your Japanese studies (though really, this video is great for life, in general). I want you to be an expert in Japanese, not just someone who’s okay (and someone who isn’t really getting better). Let’s make it happen, starting now.

Did you enjoy the speech? I hope so – let’s go over the points and tie them into Japanese learning.

By finishing this page, you’ve watched the speech and have the “big idea” in your head. Now it’s time to apply the big idea to specific things.
