The Particle で
“The painter will produce pictures of little merit if he takes the works of others as his standard.” – Leonardo da Vinci
Now that you’ve finished the particle と, there’s one more particle I want you to take a look at before moving on: The particle で.
This really is the last “main” particle you need to learn. While there are probably around 50 Japanese particles in existance, only around ten could be considered the “main” ones. They are:
- で
- が
- へ
- か
- ね/よ
- に
- の
- は
- と
You could maybe include も in there as well, if you wanted, but those are the big ones. All the others are more like little grammar points than particles (in my opinion) and although we’ll go through and learn everything, these are the ones that will get you the farthest as of right now (and you’re learning the last one of them at this very moment!).
So, let’s get going. There’s multiple ways to use で, so we’ll cover them one by one with some practice at the end.
