Remember Casual Form?
“In the End, we will remember not the words of our enemies, but the silence of our friends.” Martin Luther King, Jr
The first thing I want you to (quickly) do is review / remember casual form for all your verbs, adjectives, and nouns. You should be pretty much there already, but it’s good to practice and make certain, you know? No matter what kind of sentence you make with “to think” you’re going to want it to be casual. That’s why you need to make sure you know these.
Go through the following and make sure you are able to do them all. If there’s one you weren’t able to do from memory, review and study until you can.
Casual Nouns (Review)
です → だ
でした → だった
じゃありません → じゃない
じゃありませんでした → じゃなかった
い Adjectives
です → Nothing (drop the です)
な Adjectives
です → だった
Verbs (Review)
〜ます → 〜う sound
〜ました → 〜った
〜ません → 〜ない
〜ませんでした → 〜なかった
If you feel comfortable with all of these, then go ahead and move on. If you’re unsure about any of them, go ahead and jump back to refresh your memory, because we’ll be using them a lot here in just a minute.
