    はじめましてジョウダン。
just for general knowledge, wa in watashi ”wa” is spelled as は sorry to use romaji everyone) and also you generally don’t need to say watashi no namae wa.. you could just say ”ジョウダンです。”
    anyways: テクストフグにようこそ。

I think Tom means the “second” wa in “watashi wa” uses the particle “ha” indicating the subject. So here’s one way to write the same thing (all in kana).

    はじめまして、ジョウダンです。どうぞよろしく。わたしにほんごのがくせいです。

Or instead of douzo yoroshiku, you can say yoroshiku onegaishimasu.

You did very well with your introduction.

    ようこそ!

ありがとう would be better to use than ありがと.

    ようこそ、ジョウダンさん!

    がんばってください!

Jordan, welcome! I think it’s cool that you wrote your intro in Japanese. Most people don’t feel confident enough to try. ;)

Are you taking college classes, private, or…? How do you like that method of learning?

    Good luck with your studies!

All thank you for the warm welcome and insights.

    Winter,

I am taking private classes. My company is owned by Mitsui Japan so our owners reps sponsor a Japanese language school that I attend. The learning method is fairly traditional.

I think what has worked for me is to utilize sites like this to for ongoing learning and then use my weekend course as a check on my self-directed learning.

    Best Regards,

    Jordan
