Basically re-creating this from the old forum to the new forum and some people might have a favorite Kana as well. My favorite character is the Kanji 雨・あめ・Rain. 雨 was the first Japanese character I learned and, it may just be me, but it seems to really stand out in Japanese writing. I really like all of it’s associated Kanji like the one in my user image which means snow – 雪・ゆき・Snow.
I do have one Kana I particularly like which is the hiragana symbol め, from what I’ve read it originated from the cursive Chinese character for woman 女・おんな・Woman, I haven’t read any other hiragana references although I’m sure all of hiragana originated from cursive Chinese characters.
May 24, 2011 at 3:26 pm #11257My Japanese tutor taught me to remember how to write 女 – hiragana ‘ku’, katakana ‘no’ and then the kanji for 1 without the tail (or just a horizontal line).
On the other hand, my favourite kanji to write is either 子・こ, 水・みず (water) or 冬・ふゆ (winter).
Favourite Hiragana to write: あ,し,ま,め,る.
Favourite Katakana to write: ア,タ,ホ,ナ,レ,ン.May 24, 2011 at 3:33 pm #11260猫 (ねこ) ftw!!
=^..^=May 26, 2011 at 6:21 am #11380I haven’t got a favorite Kanji yet but my favorite Hiragana would have to be ち, just because I love the sound of it and when I first saw it, (is that the right word to use?), it looked like the number 5. :)

May 30, 2011 at 10:14 am #11652^ OMG, my tutor drew that exact face with the Hiragana last week!
May 30, 2011 at 4:04 pm #11678As for kana, I like the “swooshyness” of あ、お、ぬ、ね、の、め、わ :P But especially ぬ and ね because they have the little loops at the end…
I’m weird…

August 12, 2011 at 8:30 am #15504Fave kanji: 天 why?.. Akuma from Street Fighter
Fave kana: へ why?.. same reading for ひらがな and カタカナ :pAugust 12, 2011 at 9:54 pm #15587羊 because.. it actually looks like a sheep. :3 I have a small dry-erase board which I use to practice drawing kanji when I learn them, so.. when I learned this one, I started drawing flocks of 羊 kanji.
み because it’s SO fun to write that loopy line. ま、も、め.. pretty much all of the M’s, actually. o.o
