    Hello everyone,

My real name is Ahmed a 19 years old Pre-Med student in Saudi Arabia . I don’t usually like to tell people about my name or country , not because I am ashamed of it but because of the hate that follows the introduction. But I thought ” Hey the people on the website are trying to learn Japanese they can’t be hateful ” . So here I am . I started memorizing and studying Hiragana and Katakana 2 years ago , but I gave up when I knew that I had to memorize 2100 kanji and their multiple readings . Now after reconsidering I did some research and found a lot of resources including TextFugu. I started 2 weeks ago , I went through both Hira and Kata easily and now I am using RTK to memorize Kanji ( memorized 225 kanji by this post) .
I am studying Japanese for a lot of reasons but 2 reasons stand out . I want to be able to read light novels and visual novels .
I have a question if I may ask here . What would you suggest I use to learn the pronociations of the kanji after being done with RTK ?

I hope that we can work together to achieve our mutual goal .

P.S You can ask me anything any time :D

    ようこそ
I don’t think you’ll find hateful people here. They are all very nice. I think people know you are just a person and (probably) don’t have anything to do with political system i Saudi Arabia.

I sounds like you got a good start here. Leaning Japanese will change your life and I think you’ll love it.
Here on TF you’ll learn a nice handful of kanji. Perhaps you know the most of them already. Koichi (the author of TextFugu) is actually also behind another site called WaniKani which purpose is to teach kanji. It is still in beta but you can get access from dashboard of TF. It costs some money. Some people who already know a chunk of kanji have complained about the system on WK because you have to relearn many of the “beginner” kanji before you can move on the the more advanced ones. If you begin to use WaniKani, it’ll begin to devour your time in the later levels.
You can also learn kanji as I do. I make a list of kanji (sometimes based on a text), makes mnemonics for them and put them into Anki.
Have you gotten acquainted with Anki?

I wish your luck both with your Japanese studies and your medical studies.

Thank you very much Cimmik for your kind and encouraging words . I was just using WaniKani minutes ago , and I might get a subscription I am liking it so far. And yes I have been using Anki for a week or so . Anki is the first SRS I have tried . I have been using Heisigs RTK 6th edition deck for my RTK method.

Thanks for stopping by and I wish you the best of luck.
