Hi all. My name’s Dave. I’m from Melbourne, Australia. I’ve been attempting to learn Japanese since visiting Tokyo in early 2011 and becoming quite obsessed with it! I had been working my way through an incredibly dull textbook. The book seemed to want to teach Japanese very quickly (ie: badly) without stopping to make sure anything had sunk it. Pretty terrible stuff. I was searching for a new method of learning and found TextFugu, which I absolutely love!

I’ve got quite a few reasons for wanting to learn Japanese. My partner is Japanese-Australian (which certainly helps with learning Japanese!) and I would love to be able to talk to her family in Tokyo in Japanese. I’m also a huge fan of Japanese films – everything from Ozu to Miike – and would like to have a deeper understand when watching them. My partner and I are also planning to move to Japan, possibly as soon as next year. Looking forward to getting on with season 2!
