    Hi everyone,
Jonathan Here. I live near Edmonton, Alberta. I’m starting a serious quest to learn Japanese.

My girlfriend is Japanese and lives in Chiba City. Hence the reason for my learning Japanese is so I can communicate with her family and friends.

Also I may be moving there within the next couple years after getting married so I want to get a head start on the language so I can adjust quicker and enjoy my new life in Japan.

    Happy Learning everyone :>

Hi Jonathan! Welcome to TextFugu, and good luck learning Japanese! May I ask how you and your girlfriend met?

How we met.. well its kind of a long story but to put it simply we both like to travel. She has been to canada a number of times and I went to Japan once a couple years ago. Always have had an interest in Japanese culture(and food!) then I had an opportunity to go there on a group tour.

Eventually some friends in edmonton i got to know later knew her as well and set me up with her knowing we had some common interests. We only emailed for the past 5 months and some phone calls. But I finally had a chance to go see her for the first time a couple weeks ago. Had a great time in Japan and of course got along good with my girlfriend. ;>

It would be a big change from life in Canada but I am open to try new things and unless i can become fluent in Japanese by the time i move there, I think I will try my hand at teaching english.
Not my first choice (currently working in Canada as a welder). but like i said i’m open to try new things, haha.
