Hello. My name is Amit. I just joined the TextFugu community. The answer to the first question of why I am learning Japanese: Since learning about the samurai period in a middle school history class, I have always been fascinated with Japanese history, culture, and society. I would like to live in Japan for an extended time of at least a year. To do so and get the most out of it, speaking Japanese will be a crucial ability.

Hello there. I pretty much have the same fascination with Japan as you, the only difference being that my Love of Japan came from anime. Pretty sad really :P. I really love the culture and society (probably 10x more than where I currently live) so I feel that learning the language is totally worth it, even if I have to learn it alongside my school studies.
