Good evening, I had just begun reading the introductory section in Season 1 and it was recommended to say hi and give my personal goals for learning Japanese.

    1. Why are you learning Japanese?
    - I want to communicate if offered a project with a Japanese client while at ‘Current software engineering/support development company’.
    - I want to one day spend a vacation in Japan to visit historical sites and experience things in person.
    - I want to learn more Japanese lore and stories from the source.

Sure, I used to have eye rolling reasons for wanting to learn Japanese, i.e. video games and manga, but over time I have grown to acknowledge the value of the language for learning about a fascinating culture, for unique opportunities in the field of information technology, and to perhaps enjoy a dream vacation. I heard about this site after searching around for suggested learning materials. I started at looking from the Rosetta Stone program and somehow ended up here.

Hey, thanks for letting me know about the Anki software. I’ve never heard of it before and it sounds like it will be extremely useful.

Koichi will introduce it in the chapters of TextFugu, but when he wrote that part it was for Anki 1, not Anki 2, so it works a bit different than how he describes it.

    -Cheers!
