はじめまして！

I’ve been learning Japanese from Textfugu for about a month, but only just signed up for the full course. So far, I’m loving it! I’ve learnt hiragana, and just started learning kanji radicals .  My grammar is pretty basic at the moment, but I’m hoping to get a lot better!

I’m learning Japanese because I’ve always wanted to learn another language in order become a more well-rounded person. When I was a teenager I was into anime and the usual fare, and tried to get into the whole Japanese ‘scene’, but when I had a brief fling at the language, I don’t think I got much further than 5 pages into a textbook before giving up. Now I’m older and albeit less interested in anime and manga, I’m more interested in the Japanese culture and history. I have a skilled job, and really miss more intellectual pursuits, and even though I don’t know any Japanese people, or necessarily want to move to Japan, I do want to exercise my brain by reconnecting with something that was a big part of my childhood. (I definitely want to visit Japan though, hopefully sometime soon!)
