I did some analysis of the Textfugu kanji system. You might want to use the below lists in order to choose which kanji you are going to study after finishing the Textfugu set. Or you might just be interested to know the results.

Only kanji which are either jouyou, jinmeyou, or otherwise one of the most 2500 most common kanji are listed in these lists. Grades 1-6 are elementary school kanji. Grade 8 means junior high, and 9 and 10 are jinmeiyou. The Freq numbers are frequency rankings, with 1 being the most common, and 2500 being the least. The value “None” means the kanji isn’t one of the 2500 most used. The grade and frequency data come from kanjidict2.

Generally the grades have some influence over which kanji will have furigana in books for children and young adults. There are even books that limit the vocabulary to certain grades of kanji. So even if there are good reasons to learn kanji in some other order, I think it’s useful to know which kanji Japanese people consider “advanced.”

Here is a breakdown of which jouyou kanji are covered.

    Total Kanji 372 / 2136
    Grade 1 80 / 80
    Grade 2 144 / 160
    Grade 3 54 / 200
    Grade 4 28 / 200
    Grade 5 19 / 185
    Grade 6 14 / 181
    JuniorHS 30 / 934
    New Jouyou 3 / 196

I put a complete list of which kanji are missing from each grade over on pastebin, if anyone is interested.

Here is a list of all common kanji (freq <= 150) which have at most 8 strokes but aren't yet covered by the Textfugu kanji list.

    事 Freq 18 Grade 3
    定 Freq 48 Grade 3
    実 Freq 68 Grade 3
    表 Freq 77 Grade 3

    協 Freq 121 Grade 4
    和 Freq 124 Grade 3
    受 Freq 136 Grade 3
    改 Freq 147 Grade 4

Here is a list of the simplest kanji (stroke count <= 3) which aren't on the Textfugu kanji list yet.

    与 Freq 308 Grade 8
    士 Freq 526 Grade 4
    及 Freq 544 Grade 8
    己 Freq 1098 Grade 6

Here is a list of all kanji which appear on the radicals page as radicals, but which aren't listed on the kanji page as kanji. Sometimes the listed meaning of the radical is different than the meaning of the kanji itself. You should be careful about these.

    面 Freq 186 Grade 3
    士 Freq 526 Grade 4
    及 Freq 544 Grade 8
    周 Freq 562 Grade 4
    干 Freq 1349 Grade 6
    也 Freq 1404 Grade 9
    舟 Freq 1786 Grade 8
    弓 Freq 1802 Grade 2
    斗 Freq 1885 Grade 8
    尺 Freq 1940 Grade 6
    乃 Freq 1978 Grade 9
    巴 Freq 2082 Grade 9

    勿 Freq None Grade 9
    禾 Freq None Grade 9
    巾 Freq None Grade 8
    云 Freq None Grade 9
    斤 Freq None Grade 8

I started working on a list of kanji which appear on one of the Textfugu "ultimate" vocab decks but not the kanji list (e.g. 困), but the download files for the nouns collections have the wrong information. The PDF and XLS files for nouns 2 and 3 look like copies of the nouns 1 files. I haven't gotten around to exporting the Anki data to get the correct lists yet.
