    Hey everyone!

Here’s the thing. I’m trying to learn some basic verbs from textfugu by using Anki.
And I don’t seem to be improving at all. I can recognize each and every verb on the list and I know all the translations. But the problem is I’m unable to make a connection between a verb and it’s translation.

Does anyone of you have any tips, how to successfully learn something so abstract?

    Thank you very much

I’m confused as to what you mean by “make a connection”. You said you can recognize them and know the translations; what do you think you are missing?

I’m kinda confused by what you mean as well. Do you mean you know the Japanese of the English verb, but you can’t recall what the translation of the Japanese verb is? Maybe you could try taking all the verbs in Anki and generating ‘Recall’ versions.

Say each verb as you do it in real life? Kinda like narrating everything you do, only in Japanese. =)

It seems I was a bit unclear. Let’s say there are, I dunno, 40 verbs. I know 40 verbs and I know 40 translation of those verbs. But I don’t know which translation goes to each verb.

use iKnow.. Pretty much has the same lists of verb/adj/noun’s here on textfugu.. just delivered in a better form than Anki – Not textfugu’s fault, just the way in which the mind retains information.

To drive this stuff home you have to try and make use of the words you are learning, it helps a hell of a lot. Use Lang-8 more even if it’s for incredibly simple stuff.
